Trolls don't always live under bridges anymore

This is one of my other all-time favorite books. It was published in Finland and also has a version out called Troll. In Finland, trolls are believed to be actual wood-dwelling animals. There are not the old men under a bridge like we believe here in the US. I'll tell you straight up (no spoiler) that you will have to suspend your disbelief in order to enjoy this book. It involves inter-species love, yet it is not a science fiction novel at all. The author makes it a point to add documentation about Trolls stealing human babies to raise as their own, and also dispels all the other misinformation about Trolls. Great writing, almost magical. The ending was perfect. I love authors who end their books and an almost fairy-tale like basis, yet by the time you get to the end you realize it was the only appropriate ending. This novel won the Finnish equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize. I loved it.

Finnish novel with a troll and a gay photographer,

This is a delightful short novel. Whilst a fantasy, it has a strong thread of realism which allowed the fantasy to work for me. The troll is part of Finnish folklore and the book is interspersed with various literary and reported references to the troll. The tale is narrated by the cast of main characters apart from the mole. This worked well as it offered contrasting opinions of events relayed. Pessi's(troll) character like Paasilanni's hare developed well as the story unfolded and was delightfully eccentric and loving to Mikhael, the gay photographer, who domesticates him. There are some very funny and moving moments as well as suspense for this book to be very easy to read. One amusing effect Pessi has is to emit pheromones which gives Mikhael an aphrodisiac like smell. There are several gay characters in the book but the gay aspect is very much secondary to both the interelationship between Mikhael and Pessi and Finnish folklore.

Stat Book review

I purchased two different books for my statistics class - one by Glass & Hopkins, and this book by Coladarci. This book was optional for the class, but I'm glad I bought it. The explanations are clear and to the point. Not very much theory, which I've found to be overwhelming for a new stat student. I would recommend it to anyone who might be wondering if it is worthwhile to purchase a book that is not required but optional.

DOES NOT WORK WITH MANY KINDLE DEVICES!!

Does not work with Kindle Touch. Does not work with the Win 8 Kindle App. Requires some weird browser download to work on the app for Android 4.1. Looks like they tried to make it so it only works with the Kindle Fire. Which is exceptionally stupid. The utility of a kindle e-book is that you can access it from many devices. This is accessible to none, or almost none, of my devices. Lucky for me, Amazon offers a "return for refund," option and when they asked why, they had a "compatibility issues," button. Do not waist your time downloading this kindle book unless you are sure it will work with your kindle device and chances are it won't.

It's an easy read and the layout is logical

For any beginner statistic major, this book is the one for you. It's an easy read and the layout is logical. The author organized the chapters in a sequence so that the beginner starts with the basics and works toward the difficult formulas. Although I used this book in class, the information in it has helped me in my career as a Lean Six Sigma practitioner.

Not the best presentation of International Trade

This book is horrible. As a student of Professor Wong's I used this book extrensively. The mathematical examples were too general and presented in a confusing manner. The lack of intution behind the examples made his examples even more confusing

Easy-to-use overview of International Trade Theory

I used this book in my international trade class and the it really helped me do well in the class. My professor was really confusing, but the book's discussion and examples made the concepts easy to understand. Overall, from a student's perspective, I would definitely recommend the book.
