He is also a core contributor to the jmeter-maven-plugin, a tool that allows you to run JMeter tests through Maven. Mark has also contributed code to the core Selenium code base.

good overview for my learning curve

I bought and brought this book with me on my cruise to read in between my inactivity on the ship. I have to tell you I enjoyed reading it very much from the first to last page.

First, I am a 13+ year Software Engineer in Test. I currently write automation test for web applications. I would say I have 2-3 years of experience with using Selenium in my career. This book is a great overview for me as well as an excellent pickup tool to enhance my knowledge. The book discusses a few problems which I have been trying to tackle in my career. The book also gave me a few moments which I had to say: "Ah, darn it! Why didn't I do that in my codes?"

The book has many examples which I can use to learn the concept and help me understand the discussed topics quicker and easier.

The book has one chapter dedicated to Docker and how to implement it for the Selenium Grid. Docker is very new to me because I just learned about it at a recent DevOps summit. I found this chapter was helpful to learn more about Docker and the grid. I just feel it was bit short and wish it covers more.

My favorite chapter of the book was Chapter 4 which the book discussed how to deal with "timing issue" in Selenium automation. My current work is automating a web app with a heavy load of javascripts and it is my major headache dealing with it. This chapter gave me better understanding of the problem. It provides much better ideas how I could possible tackle it in my work.

I recommend this book to everyone who is working on Selenium automation.

Excellent book for anyone progressing past the basics with Selenium

A must read for those wishing to develop their own frameworks using Selenium. The book addresses the common problems with Selenium with clear, concise explanations and provides coded examples in Java.

Most importantly for me, the book does not just repeat the basics that other books seem to but seeks to differentiate itself. The chapter on using Docker is a particularly good one, giving a basic grounding in Docker and how to use it with Selenium.

Overall I found the book to be excellent and I was really glad I purchased it.

Useful book for advance Selenium topics

A lot of useful information for those who want to get into advance topics with Selenium.
The chapter on Page Objects and Page Factory was well explained with detailed examples. Having read other books on Page Objects, I felt I understood it better with Mark's version.
The chapter about implementing the different types of wait was also well written.

New theoretical, literary, historical, philosophical, and cultural perspectives provide the opportunity to deploy, question, subvert, and resituate canonic Orientalist theories, revealing the continuing evolution and relevance of French Orientalism as a notion with global stakes and material consequences. Demons no match for God

I have found the advice of John and Paula Sandford very helpfull in the past. So I was intrested in this colaboration with his son Mark. First I liked how they directed you to take resposibility for your actions, and made it clear that we can not use Demons as an excuse for our harmful acts, we provide the furtile ground. In the end it is God who leads us to God, but it is great to have people like John and Mark, dedicated to helping us when we get stuck along the way. If you are ready to take responsibility for your life, this is a great book to help you along.

Some Great Points, However...

I am about halfway through this book and the authors do make some excellent points. However I did want to comment on a couple of things I disagree with, where I feel that they stretch or misuse Scripture somewhat.

1. One of the four laws of inner-healing the Sandfords rely upon is stated by them on page 59 as follows:

"The fourth law is becoming what we judge in others: 'Therefore you are without excuse, every man of you who passes judgment, for in that you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things' (Romans 2:1). I have found it to be a law that whoever judges another dooms himself to do the same thing, or something stemming from the same root"

I believe this is a real misinterpretation of this verse. The verse is actually saying that when we judge others for doing the things that we ourselves ARE DOING (my emphasis - on the PRESENT TENSE) we are condemning ourselves. In other words, God will simply use the same standard for us as we use for others, because we are doing the very same things that we judge.

There is no PREDICTIVE sense in this verse. It is NOT saying that when we judge others for doing certain things, in the future we WILL do the same or similar.

2. Commanding Demons to Name Themselves
From p42ff, the Sandfords state that we should not command demons to name themselves in the process of deliverance. There then follows a very convoluted explanation of the story of the Gadarene Demoniac in Matthew 8:28-34 and Mark 5:1-17. Myself and every other deliverance minister I have come across, including seasoned ministers such as Charles Kraft, Francis MacNutt, Derek Prince and Don Dickerman maintain that in these passages Jesus was clearly interrogating the demons, and that this is a helpful example that can be followed. It is not essential to know the names of evil spirits in order to cast them out, but it can often reveal things about for example the function they are performing in the host person.

The Sandfords try to make out that Jesus was asking the man his name, in order to ascertain what level of deliverance had already been attained - like a "reality check". They try to make out that Jesus already knew the name of all the demons and therefore did not need to ask. if we follow that logic, Jesus would also have known what level of deliverance had already been attained!

Also, Jesus was operating as an anointed man while He walked upon the earth. His identity was always God, but He laid aside attributes such as omniscience and relied upon His intimate communion with the Father, and the leading of the Holy Spirit, as our example. Therefore He did not automatically know the name of all the demons occupying the man.

Having raised these reservations, it has not put me off continuing to read the rest of the book and find some great wisdom within it.

So spiritual and so thurough

This book blew me away. It is so detailed into how deliverance and inner healing work. John, Paula, and Mark Sanford are by far the most informed and spiritual experts in spiritual warfare and bringing healing to the hurt. They present the information with supporting evidence from scripture. In certain situations,such as haunted houses, that are not mentioned in the Bible, he clearly states what is his own opinion. I love the way John and Mark Sanford are not afraid to admit that there is a difference between a spiritual problem and a physical problem. This book is recommended only for those who have a strong spiritual understanding.

Succinct and Practical Help — Very Helpful

This book not only succinctly ties everything I have already learned in overcoming my emotional childhood wounds, but has also been extremely helpful in understanding and addressing the wound that made it difficult for me to receive love.

The structure of this book makes it very helpful to work through your wounds. The self-assessment test were very helpful in identifying my own particular fear issue. Furthermore, providing the behavior triggers and behavioral reactions to my particular fear trigger was extremely helpful. Although I am already familiar with much of the information in the remainder of the book, it still helped bring clarity to dealing my own emotional wound in a more healthy manner.

This book is filled with lots of practical exercises with examples to walk you through the healing process. In fact, as a whole, these exercises are more practically helpful than any other book I have read on overcoming trauma (not the only great book though: Rewire Your Brain, Daring to Trust, Learned Optimism, Willpower Instinct and Charisma Myth were also great. Each touch on key principles addressed in this particular book). The chapter on communication covered a variety of important topics, but also done in a succinct manner that makes it easy to incorporate as I open myself for Building Lasting, Loving Relationships.

If you are new to the overcoming the fears and wounds of the past, this is a great book to start.

If you are like me and have been working through your wounds for some time, then this book very well may bring a simplified clarity to the whole process. I can actually live the advice in this book in my life presently. I don't have to spend months trying to get a grasp of my wound. I can now live the life I am working towards. I personally got what I needed from this book, even with the needed exercises, within one day. I am glad I bought it and highly recommend it.

Excellent!

Thank you Michelle Skeen. I can not put this book down. I can not believe how helpful this book is. It is teaching me how to let go of my damaging ways of thinking that I have learned over the years. That thinking includes not trusting, self-loathing and self-sabotage. These hardwired feelings were destroying my relationship with my husband. A relationship I do not want to lose. I started seeking out why I could not trust. Was I right by following my intuition that he was cheating on me. That every time he did something nice there was an ulterior motive. If he didn't answer my texts or calls that gave me validity of my thoughts. Who would ever think that maybe it could have something to do with my self preservation process? And, god forbid, he might have other reasons for not answering my texts or calls. If you have any thoughts like I do, this book is a relationship saver.

Skeen does a beautiful job of leading readers not only on a journey ...

As a clinical psychology trainee pursuing a doctoral degree, I have ample reading to do, but this book was an absolute pleasure to read. Dr. Skeen does a beautiful job of leading readers not only on a journey of healing, but also on a journey of discovering why and how their early patterns of interaction are perpetuated. Many texts cover how to solve the present issue, but few cover the root of the issue, which, if addressed, can lead to deeper levels of self-understanding and reaching a place of peace. The text is laid out in an accessible manner so the reader can easily follow along, and it is evident that Dr. Skeen has invested a lot of time into fully researching schema therapy, as well as practicing it. Her writing style is clear and engaging; she really connects with readers as if she is sitting in the chair across from them in a session. Through her words Michelle communicates empathy with readers, and her use of vignettes helps those fearing abandonment understand that this is a very real, prevalent struggle, but also one that they can overcome. I would consider this to be a text not only for those who wish to explore their own relationships, but also for clinicians and trainees as well. Bravo on this one! Great read that I am happy to have added to my library for practice in the future.
